Denell Ann Leegard (Wellman) Age 72, of Detroit Lakes, MN passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family on March 25th, 2024, after a very long and courageous battle with breast cancer. She was born to Douglas and Donna Wellman on March 28th, 1951, in St. Louis Park, MN. In her free time, Denell enjoyed crocheting Afghans for family and friends, cross-stitching and reading. Denell took great joy in attending sporting events that her grandchildren were in. Denell was a school bus driver for Anderson Bus in Frazee for 23 years. She especially enjoyed driving the party bus for special events and shuttle for We-Fest.
Denell is survived by her loving husband Paul, son Nicholas (Emily), Daughter Michelle, and grandchildren Chloe, Georgia, Austin and Blaine, her brother Darrell (Gwenn) Wellman, sisters Darla (Randy) Morningstar, Dody Vick, Dawn (Tom) Frick, Deanne (Josh) Louis, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Denell was proceeded in death by her parents Douglas and Donna and by her Mother-in-Law Myrtle Leegard (Gebeke).
Graveside service will be May 4, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., Richwood Lutheran Church in Callaway, Minnesota
There will be a Celebration of Life for Denell on Saturday, May 4th at 1:00 PM, at the Chapel House, 22700 175th Street, Detroit Lakes MN., south of Forest Hills Golf Club west of Detroit Lakes. There will be food and a variety non-alcoholic beverages served. Alcoholic beverages are welcome, there will be some available, but will be limited.Service Schedule
