Obituary

Diane M. Arnold age 94 of Detroit Lakes, MN, passed away peacefully at Ecumen – Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes on August 2, 2026 under the care of HIA Hospice and surrounded by her loving family.

Diane was born on February 2, 1932, in Moorhead, MN to Roy and Muriel (Lord) Swenson. She attended Northwest School in Crookston, graduating in 1949. Diane was united in marriage to Bob Arnold in 1950. Together they had three sons.

Diane was an exceptional cook, gardener, and a talented decorator who took great pride in creating a warm and welcoming home on Toad Lake. She had a wonderful sense of style and was known as a classy dresser. She was a devoted wife and homemaker who cared deeply for her family. Diane also enjoyed arts and crafts, especially macrame, where she found joy in creating beautiful handmade pieces. Her creativity, grace, and loving nature were evident in everything she did and left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.

In 2019, Diane moved to Pelican Landing in Detroit Lakes, becoming their first resident. She enjoyed her many close friends and participated in numerous activities there.

Diane is survived by her three sons, Steve (Michele) Arnold, of Bismarck, ND; Barry Arnold, of eastern Montana; and Mark (Heidi) Arnold, of rural Osage, MN; nine grandchildren, Tara, Nielle, Cal, Lee, Stephanie, Jodi, Adam, Aaron, and Anthony; and eighteen great grandchildren.

Diane was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; her parents; one brother, Duane; sister in law, Mavis; and daughter in law, Ramona Arnold.
