Donna Rae Margarett Swenson

Donna Swenson age 74 of Detroit Lakes, MN died August 5, 2018 at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND. Donna Rae Margarett Swenson was born April 18, 1944 in Bowbells, ND to Raymond and Delores (Gustafson) Swenson. She grew up and attended school in Portal, ND. She then attended the St. Joseph School of Hair Design in Fargo, ND. She owned and operated Swanny’s Beauty Salon in Portal, ND for several years.  She raised her three children in Portal and Minot, ND. She moved to Thief River Falls, MN in 1999 and to Detroit Lakes in 2007 to be closer to her children. Donna loved time spent with her grandchildren. She very much enjoyed going to all their activities. She was also a very positive person and was not one to complain. She was a real people person, who enjoyed meeting and getting to know people. She also enjoyed shopping and music. She is survived by one daughter, Kimberly (John) Schafer, of Audubon, MN; two sons, Wayne (Tami) Swenson, of New Richmond, WI; and Joshua (Kimberly) Swenson, of Thief River Falls, MN; Ten granddaughters, Stephanie (Eric) Swenson, of Waynesville, MO; Typhanie Schafer, of Murfreesboro, TN; Brittanie Schafer, of Casper, WY; Audreana Swenson, of Thief River Falls, MN; Shauna Swenson, of Thief River Falls, MN; Mackenzie Swenson, of Thief River Falls, MN; Abby Swenson, of Thief River Falls, MN; Jessica Potter, Shawnie Potter and Montana Potter, all of New Richmond, WI; three great grandchildren, Adeline Swenson, of Waynesville, MO; Kennedy Potter, and Seamus Potter, of New Richmond, WI; Mother of Audreana and Shauna, Ann Swenson, of Thief River Falls, MN; one brother, Ernest Swenson, of Lake Park, MN; one sister, Ranae (Dale) Mellgren, of Havre, MT; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and an infant sister, Jeannie. A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday August 9, 2018; 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Detroit Lakes, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Arrangements have been entrusted to the West-Kjos Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes, MN.
