Duane Allen Leegard

Duane A. Leegard age 90 of Detroit Lakes, MN died May 1, 2021 at Essentia Health – St. Mary’s Hospital in Detroit Lakes, MN.

Duane Allen Leegard was born August 4, 1930 in Detroit Lakes to Julian and Cora Lien Leegard. He attended Country School. He served in the United States Army from 1953-1954. On June 11, 1960 he married Eloise Olson in Richwood Lutheran Church in rural Detroit Lakes. They farmed in Richwood Township, raising beef cattle. Duane also worked at Reid and Wackman Lumber and at Stenerson Lumber for many years. He served as Supervisor in Richwood Township for 45 years, and was the Sexton at Richwood Lutheran Cemetery for many years.

He is survived by his sister in law, Eleanor Olson, of Detroit Lakes; and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife Eloise (May 2011.)

Funeral Services will be on Monday May 10, 2021; 2:00 p.m. at the Richwood Lutheran Church in rural Detroit Lakes. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Richwood Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the Richwood Cemetery Fund or Richwood Lutheran Church.
