Eileen Lenore Pederson, 102,  Detroit Lakes, MN, died Friday, Oct. 12, in Ecumen - Emmanuel Nursing Home.Eileen was born on September 8, 1916 in Enok, MN the daughter of Gunnar and Alice (Johnson) Wass. She married Arthur O. Pederson on January 14, 1943 in Pensacola, FL. They were married for 55 years until his passing om April 4, 1998. They made their home in Hallock, where they raised their three children: Douglas, Diane, and Jefferey. They moved to West Fargo, ND in 1967, where Art was assistant manager of ASP Construction: they retired to Detroit Lakes. In her younger years, Eileen enjoyed camping, fishing, especially on Lake of the Woods, the Winnipeg River, Manitoba and later at the family cabin in Atikokan, Ontario. Her last trip to Atikokan, at age 94, resulted in her catching the largest walleye of her life. She was a tremendous cook, a great seamstress and enjoyed painting, knitting and crocheting. Eileen is survived by her daughter-in-law: Molly Pederson of Cambridge, MN; daughter: Diane Pederson of Detroit Lakes, MN; son: Jeff (Teri) Pederson of Mankato, MN; She will be dearly missed by her six grandchildren: Amy (Robert) Pederson Moore of St. Michael, MN; Joel (Sarah) Pederson of Milaca, MN; Jill (Dan) May of Willmar, MN; Johanna Pederson of Detroit Lakes, MN; Gretchen Pederson of Vero Beach, FL; Joseph Pederson of Mankato, MN; 12 great grandchildren: Kelsey, Lexi, Noah, Helen, Julia, Maya, Sawyer, and Gunnar Pederson; Saryn, Samuel, Kezia and Ezra May; two great grandchildren; sister: Verona Dryer of Bluffton, SC; and many nieces and nephews.After Art’s death, Diane was her special caregiver.  Our thanks to our sister Diane, Diane’s many friends, and the staff of Emmanuel Nursing Home that helped make Eileen’s life full. She was preceded in death by her parents: Gunnar and Alice Wass, Husband, Art, son: Douglas in 2009; beautiful granddaughter: Marissa Pederson in 2018; son -in -law Alden and Marge Wass, and brother -in -law William Dryer.Visitation Thursday, November 1st from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the West-Kjos Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes, with a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. Interment will be Saturday, November 3rd at 11:45 a.m. in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN.   (In lieu of flowers), Memorials preferred to an organization of choice.
