Ellen Ruby Rodriguez

Ellen R. Rodriguez, 71, of Detroit lakes, MN, passed away on Friday, July 13, 2018 at Essentia Hospital in Fargo, ND. Memorial Services for Ellen will be held on Friday July 20th, 2018 at 11AM at West-Kjos Funeral Home of Detroit Lakes. Visitation will start at 10AM and continue until the time of service. Ellen Ruby Ross was born on October 10, 1946, in Detroit Lakes, MN, to Jack and Jeanette (Lundberg) Ross.  She graduated from Detroit Lakes High School with the class of 1964. Ellen furthered her education at Wadena Technical College graduating with a business degree. On December 13, 1967 Ellen was united in marriage to Abelardo Rodriguez at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Detroit Lakes. After getting married, Ellen moved away from the area because Abelardo was in the Air Force. They moved frequently around the United States.   The couple raised two sons, Anthony “Tony” and Jason. They later divorced.  Ellen lived in the San Antonio, TX, area for many years before returning to the Detroit Lakes area in 2016, to be closer to family. While living in Texas, Ellen worked as a secretary for the Lackland Air Force Base during the 1980’s. She then started working for Russ Berrie Figurine and collectables as a sales consultant for many years in the San Antonio, TX area.  She then worked for Gift Craft before retiring in 2012. She will be remembered as a very kind and giving person. She loved Christmas, to shop, spend time with her grandchildren and being at the family lake home on Buffalo Lake. She is survived by her two sons Tony (Jennifer ) and Jason (Linda); grandchildren, Quentin, Sammy, Sydney, Ryan, and Kyle; two sisters;  Kathy (Stan) Turner and Cindy (Lynn) Majewski; Brother Jon (Tammy) Ross; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Preceding Ellen in death were her parents; two sisters:  Nancy Ross and Jacquelin Fisher
