Detroit Lakes, Minnesota

Flynn Wienckowski, 74, passed away on September 27, 2025, at his home in Detroit Lakes, MN. He took his last ride into the sunset, leaving behind a legacy of generosity and laughter. Born on October 1, 1950, in Fargo, North Dakota, Flynn lived a life marked by passion for the open water, a love of classic machines, and a steadfast presence for those around him. Per Flynn's wishes, no services will be held.

Flynn graduated from high school in Glyndon, Minnesota, and remained rooted in the region throughout his life. He found joy and fulfillment living on the lake—a place that brought him peace and reflected his deep appreciation for nature’s beauty. Whether sailing, boating or tinkering with one of his many beloved vehicles, Flynn embraced each day with enthusiasm and curiosity.

While his professional career in Trucking showcased his sharp mind and unwavering integrity, his true passion was found restoring classic Chevy pickup trucks. He saw more than just a machine—he saw a work of art and a puzzle to be solved. Many friends and fellow enthusiasts will remember him, eagerly talking shop and sharing stories about the next great restoration project.

A true enthusiast of all things mechanical, Flynn had an enduring love for classic trucks, motorcycles, boats—anything with wheels or sails. His collection was as diverse as it was impressive; if it had an engine or could glide across water, chances are Flynn had owned it at some point. Restoring classic pickups was more than a hobby—it was a passion that allowed him to blend craftsmanship with nostalgia.

Flynn was known not only for his interests but also for his unwavering dependability. He would always be there—especially when someone needed him most. That quiet reliability became a hallmark of who he was to those fortunate enough to know him.

He is lovingly remembered by his siblings: sister Marie Kvanvig; brother Stan Wienckowski; and sister Lola Langlie and her husband Kevin; sister-in-law Dede Wienckowski nephews and nieces, Huston Wienckowski, Shawna (Josh) Edwards, Mike (Susan) Kvanvig, Michelle (David) Sherven, Angela "AJ" (Ryan) Nannenga as well as great nephews, Brandon, Dylan, Jerry, Jack, Jaydon, Zackary, Wyatt, Pryce.

Flynn was preceded in death by his father Florian (Sunshine); mother Angeline; brother Kenny; and brother-in-law Dennis Kvanvig.

A Celebration of Flynn’s life will be held at a later date in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.

We will miss his infectious laugh, his unwavering support, and his incredible talent for fixing anything. The world is a little quieter without him, but his legacy of kindness and generosity will continue to drive on in our hearts forever. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire stories shared along lakeshores and open roads alike.
