Frances Mary Hoppert was born May 15, 1934 in Hillview, South Dakota, the daughter of Frank and Mary (Kelsch) Malsom. She passed away Friday July 29, 2022 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.

She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith. Frances grew up and attended school in the Linton area graduating from Linton high school. She continued her education by attending beautician school in Milwaukee. Frances was married to Waldo Ashmore and moved to Detroit Lakes.

On February 20, 1975 Frances was united in marriage to Walter Hoppert in Denton, Texas. They made their home in Detroit lakes. Over the years Frances owned and operated Delight Lunch, McCarthy’s Drive In and later a beauty shop.

She enjoyed various types of hunting, fishing, hunting wild boar in Texas, and golfing. Anything Walter enjoyed doing, she was sure to be there. Frances loved the outdoors, cooking wild game, and spending time with her family.

Frances is survived by her children: Robin (Susan) Hoppert, Rick (Merry) Hoppert, David (Jeanette) Hoppert, Jean Tipton, Linda Landry, Marlene Kenny, grandchildren: Chad (Heather) Sletmoen, Melissa (Dave) Heitkamp, Kristi (Jon) Jeffery, Joe (Lucy) Hoppert, Katherine Hoppert; 4 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; siblings: Larry (Eileen) Malsom, Paul Malsom, Betty (Terry) Owens, Delores Meier; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Frank and Mary Malsom; husband Walter Hoppert; Walter’s daughter: Judy Samuelson; and Fran’s 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
