Fred Blum, of Detroit Lakes, MN passed away at home on Thursday, March 26, 2020, of complications from a fall.
Fred Bernard Blum was born on November 16, 1951 in Gloversville, NY, and after completing his education in New York State he moved to Denver, CO, establishing a real estate development business there. In 2009 he retired to his beloved lake home on Big Detroit Lake. He was a long-time volunteer with Meals on Wheels and a boat captain with Let’s Go Fishing.
He is survived by his wife Karen, one son, Jens (Paige) Carstensen; two grandsons, Felix and Jasper; Emmett, the best dog ever; two brothers, Al (Sari) Blum, and Norm (Tami) Blum; one sister, Judy (Terrance) Brennan; and many nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Kurt; and his parents.
Fred was a big-hearted, kind man who will be greatly missed by so many people.
A family gathering will be held at a later date to celebrate his life.
