Ginger Lee Alger, 74, passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family. Ginger Lee Hoff was born on September 23, 1945 to Melvin and Doris (Bertsch) Hoff in Carrington, ND. She graduated from high school in 1963 and was Homecoming Queen her senior year. She met David Alger shortly after high school and fell in love, they were united in marriage in 1968. Ginger was known for many things but first and foremost she was known as a mom and grandma to everyone. She loved taking care of her family and being there for them when they needed her. She was an avid member of the United Methodist Church in Detroit Lakes, MN and enjoyed going to the early morning service. Ginger was also a supporter of the Boys and Girls Club. She loved to bake and cook food for her family, crosswords and reading romance novels. Ginger’s loving memory is remembered by her children; Stephanie (Kent) Johnson, Dion (Anna) Alger, Carey (Traci) Alger, Mike (Kari) Wendt, Nadine (Ed) Harris, Wayne (Aleatha) Knopf and many other who called Ginger their Mom, her grandchildren; Taylor, Brett, Carson, Tanner, Wyatt, Tovah and many others who called her their grandmother, her two sisters DaVonne (Henry) Hoff and Gloy (Tim) Isaak, and her brother Dougie (Pam) Hoff. Ginger is preceded in death by her parents Melvin and Doris, her husband David, and an infant son Darin. A private family service will be held at a later date.
