Gladys Johnson

Gladys Elizabeth Johnson was born May 5, 1919 in Glyndon, the daughter of John and Agda (Olsen) Olson. She passed away March 13, 2018 at Ecumen-Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. Her family moved to the Lake Park area, and Gladys grew up and attended country school in the Lake Park and Audubon area. On June 2, 1938 Gladys was united in marriage to Lester Longtine, to this union four children were born. They made their home south of Lake Park before Lester passed away in 1968. She continued to live in the Lake Park area and married Tony Johnson in 1976. They retired to Detroit Lakes in 2000, and Tony passed away in 2006. Gladys enjoyed dancing, and spending time with her family. She was a charter member of Strandvik Lutheran Church, and was known for being a hard worker. Gladys was employed by Dr. Stafne’s family taking care of their lake home. She is survived by her children: Richard (Sarah) Longtine of Park Rapids; Lonnie (Leland) Knutson of Hawley; Larry (Ruth) Longtine of Moorhead; Faye (Robert) Polejewski of Pelican Rapids; 12 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; step children: Deana Johnson and Dennis (Carma) Johnson. Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, John and Agda Olson; husbands: Lester Longtine and Tony Johnson; daughter-in-laws: Nettie Longtine and Dar Longtine; son-in-law: Frank Polejewski; a granddaughter in infancy: Colleen Longtine; and all of her brothers and sisters.
