Gordon O. Hanson age 81 of Detroit Lakes, MN died November 20, 2020 at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Detroit Lakes, MN. Gordon Oscar Hanson was born March 11, 1939 in Detroit Lakes, MN to Ivan and Emelia (Paulson) Hanson. He grew up and attended school in Vergas, MN. He then served in The U.S. Navy from 1956-1960, stationed on board the U.S.S. Wisconsin. Following his discharge from the Navy he drove truck for the better part of forty years across the United States and Canada. He always wanted to see what was over the next hill. He then worked for Progressive Contractors in St. Michael, MN until he retired in 2001. Following his retirement he worked part time for Perry Limo Service and Wausau Trucking of Detroit Lakes, MN. His loves were riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle and his horse. He is survived by one son, Rory (Martha) Hanson, of West Columbia, SC; two daughters, Dawn Jordan, of Edgewood, NM; and Debra Hanson, of Detroit Lakes, MN; six grandchildren, Andrea Hanson Beaver, Jessica Hanson, Joshua Jordan, Nathan Jordan, Shaun Patton, and Luke Patton; sixteen great grandchildren, Jasmine Beaver, Blake Beaver, Ashleigh Pope, Desiree Hanson, Alexa Hanson, Hayleigh Hanson, Noah Pope, Mason Pope, Liam Hanson, Preston Hanson, Cameron Keller, Daniel Jordan, Adam Jordan, Amanda Patton, Talayah Patton, and Morning Star Blackburde; and special friends, Bill Santoro and Sonny Fales. He was preceded in death by two sons, Little Gordy, and Darrin; two grandsons, Matt and Casey; and his parents. Memorial Services for Gordon will be held in the spring. Arrangements have been entrusted to the West-Kjos Funeral Home of Detroit Lakes.
