Grace A. Judisch

October 12, 1924 — November 22, 2019

Grace Judisch, age 95, went to be with God on Friday, November 22, 2019.

Grace Amelia Lindsey was born October 12, 1924 in Casselton, North Dakota to Earl and Ellen Lindsey. Grace liked to tell people she was so tiny that she was carried around on a pillow. As a teenager they moved to Fargo, North Dakota where she met Beth who became her best friend for 81 years.

Grace was married to Paul Judisch on September 8, 1941. They were married for 58 years. Paul was drafted during WWII into the Army and served in the Aleutian Islands. During this time, Grace went to stay with her mother, on Ellen’s farm near Ogema, Minnesota. On October 25, 1942, Grace gave birth to their first child, Karen in Fargo, North Dakota and returned to stay with her mother on the farm.

In 1945, Paul was flown by hospital plane to the Army-Airforce hospital in Hot Springs, AR. Grace and Ellen joined him in Hot Springs. Upon Paul’s hospital release the little family relocated to St. Paul, Minnesota. On April 25, 1946, their second child, Douglas was born. Shortly after this, the family left St. Paul and began farming near Ogema, Minnesota, where on September 23, 1950, their third child, Karolyn was born.

In October of 1953, the family moved to California and settled in Calabasas. On December 2, 1956, Grace gave birth to their fourth child, Debra. In 1963, they moved to Santa Susana, California where on October 3, 1964 their fifth child, Kimberly, was born. In 1978, the big move happened and back to Minnesota they came. They lived in a lovely home in rural Frazee, Minnesota where they remained.

Grace loved a party, especially a Teddy Bear Tea Party. Many children and adults learned the Teddy Bear Song while taking party in a Teddy Bear Tea Party. The theme of Grace’s 90th birthday party was a Teddy Bear Picnic. Grace loved handing out toys and candy to children who came to visit on various holidays. As children and their parents entered her house, they would see all the festive decorations on display.

Grace was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Frazee for 40 years. She was a member of the Ladies VFW Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was also an active Member of the Lady Bird Homemakers. Grace was a 4H leader in California and continued to do so in Frazee. Grace loved crafts and would see something and say, “I can do that!”, and she would. She joyfully created lots of beautiful and fun things…she entered some of creations in the County Fair and won ribbons for them.

Grace was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul Judisch; parents, Earl and Ellen Lindsay, five brothers, Rolland, LeRoy, Stewart, Charles, and Earl (Bobo) and two sisters, Evelyn and Edna.

Grace is survived by her five children, Karen Gentry (Bart), Rev. Dr. Douglas Judisch, Karolyn Zurn (Bill), Debra Larson (Greg), Kimberly Berg (Sean); 10 grandchildren, Susan Bell Verette (David), Sally Bell Cronin (Paul), Penny Bell (Bruce Yellin), Drew Larson (Ashley), Zachary Larson (Mariah), Eric Zurn (Erica), Rebecca Zima (Kevin), Jessica Barry (Laremie), Nicholas Zurn and Kelsey Marschall (Eric); 23 great grandchildren and four step great grandchildren; two great-great granddaughters; sisters-in-law, Beth Lindsey and Arlue Gray and many, many much loved nieces and nephews.
