Harriet E Anderson

Harriet E. Anderson age 98 of Detroit Lakes, MN died April 19, 2018 at Diamond Willow Assisted Living in Detroit Lakes, MN. Harriet Eleanor Chalgren was born January 30, 1920 to Jens and Anna Margaret (Rostberg) Chalgren. She attended Country School until the eighth grade and helped out on the family homestead. On July 9, 1944 she was united in marriage to Ernest C. Anderson. They made their home in Richwood Township, where they owned and operated Ernest C. Anderson Sand and Gravel for many years. Harriet enjoyed gardening, dancing, shopping, traveling, flea markets, eating out, and bowling league. She also enjoyed the twenty plus years that she wintered in Arizona. Harriet’s house was the place where family and friends gathered. She loved cooking for others. Family was her pride and joy. Her smile and laugh and fun personality will be missed by all. Harriet is survived by two sons, Ernest, of Rochert, MN; and Charles, of Detroit Lakes, MN; three grandchildren, Tim (Sheila) Anderson, of Detroit Lakes, MN; Steve (Kate) Anderson, of Rochert, MN; and Arlene (Jason) Brogren, of Detroit Lakes, MN; six great grandchildren, Tristin (Ryan) Ortiz, Tiffany Anderson, Alex Anderson, Austin Anderson, Jade Olson, and Colby Olson; two great great grandsons, Kayne Anderson, and Renn Ortiz. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest; her parents; two brothers, Vincent and Maynard; son Raymond; and daughter in law, Joanne. Funeral Services will be on Wednesday April 25, 2018; 7:00 p.m. at the West-Kjos Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes, MN. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Interment will be in the Lund Lutheran Cemetery, Detroit Lakes, MN.
