Harry "Sonny" Hanson

There will be no service for Harry. The family will have a burial later in the spring.  Harry Eugene “Sonny“ Hanson was born March 26th, 1930, in Hatton, North Dakota, the on of Harry Sr. and Hilda (Gilberts) Hanson.  He passed away January 18, 2019 at his home in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. He grew up and attended school in Hatton. Sonny was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hatton. Following high school, he worked with his father before entering the United States Army. Sonny received is honorable discharge in 1953. On November 29, 1958 he was united in marriage to Lois Enger at Our Savior Lutheran Church in East Grand Forks. To this union a daughter Lori was born. They made their home in Hatton as Harry worked at the Grand Forks Air Force Base. He retired after 28 in transportation at the Air Force Base. Harry enjoyed NASCAR, threshing bees, vending at flea markets in the area and was a history buff. They enjoyed spending winters in Texas and summers in Detroit Lakes. He is survived by his wife Lois Hanson of Detroit Lakes; daughter: Lori Hanson of Detroit Lakes; sister: Nita (Bernie) Johnson of Hatton; nephews: Randy (Margo) Johnson of Ponsford; Timmy (Sheila) Johnson of Fargo; Harry was preceded in death by his parents: Harry and Hilda, and his step mother, Clara Sorenson Hanson.
