Jacque Friesen, 86, of Detroit Lakes, MN passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, September 27, 2019 at Ecumen - The Cottage in Detroit Lakes. Jacqueline Mae Haagenson was born on August 5, 1933 in Detroit Lakes, MN to Marvin and Pearl (Monson) Haagenson. Jacque grew up and attended school in Detroit Lakes, graduating from DLHS in 1951. She married her high school sweetheart, Robert (Bob) Friesen in 1953. They lived in Detroit Lakes and raised their family. Jacque worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company for many years. Jacque enjoyed golfing, dancing, traveling with Bob, family vacations, riding around the lakes with Bob in their Austin Healey Bug Eye Sprite, cooking, and the time spent with her friends and family. She was a very loving wife and mother. She greatly enjoyed spending time with her two sisters and friends and she had a great sense of fun. She had an unfailing memory and was considered to be the family historian. In retirement, Jacque and Bob traveled in their vintage Airstream and spent many winters in Arizona and Texas. Jacque is survived by her loving husband Bob of Detroit Lakes, MN; daughter Mona (Kevin) Disse of Rochert, MN; son Michael Friesen of Detroit Lakes, MN; sister Jeanne de la Montanya of Dublin, CA; and seven nieces and nephews. She is deeply missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister JoAnn Haasl; sister-in-law Adella Olsen; brothers-in-law Bob Haasl, Don Olsen, and Jack de la Montanya. Thank you to Dr. Nordmark, the staff at The Cottage, and the staff of Hospice of the Red River Valley for your kindness and care. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
