Janice Carol Campbell

December 27, 1944 — April 8, 2022

Janice Carol (Walker) Campbell passed away at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes on April 8, 2022.  Jan was born December 27, 1944 in Huron, South Dakota.  She grew up and went to school in Huron.  There she met the love of her life, Wayne and were married for 57 years.  In 1982 they moved to Detroit Lakes.

Jan worked for many years at the Detroit Lakes Chamber of Commerce.  She enjoyed all the visitors who came through the door and telling them about the area she loved living in.  She loved Minnesota sports- the Wild, Twins, Vikings, and the Gophers and of course the Lakers.  She was also known to cheer on the Fighting Sioux at UND.

Jan loved animals; she got her first horse Ringo when she was 13.  She would spend hours watching flying squirrels from her window and deer in her yard.  Jan fed any stray cat that came to her door.

Jan loved family.  She loved spending time with her family on vacation and playing cards.  She cherished the time she had to spent with her granddaughters.  Han loved being the family historian-documenting almost everything the family did in stories and pictures.

She is survived by her husband Wayne; two sons Roy (Valerie) Campbell of Savage, MN, and Cory (Sarah) Campbell of Grand Forks, ND; two granddaughters, Daphne and Jocelyn.  Sisters Shirley Dynes and Lynn McGinnis.  And her cat Chloe.

Jan is preceded in death by her parents George and Florence Walker and her cat Mindy.

Memorial service will be held at United Methodist Church on April 16, 2022 at 11:00 a.m.  As she requested, Jan’s remains will be scattered in the Memorial Garden at the church.
