Jerald L. Tovson

Jerald Lee Tovson was born September 21, 1955 in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota the son of Donald and Florence (Killingstad) Tovson. He passed away March 12, 2020 at his home in Detroit Lakes.

He was baptized at Richwood Lutheran Church and grew up and attended school in Callaway and Detroit Lakes. On August 3, 1991 Jerald was united in marriage to Starla Niemitalo at Nazarene Church in Detroit Lakes.

Jerald began driving truck at a young age. He worked for STS, R&R Trucking, and Giere Trucking before becoming an independent owner/operator in 1995. He enjoyed snowmobiling, motorcycling and working on cars. Jerald was known among his friends and family as having the ability to fix almost anything after doing a little research. Jerald was a caring man with a big heart for both people and animals.

He is survived by his wife: Starla Tovson; sons: Chadd (Jessica Lopez) Tovson, Aaron (Jessica) Tovson; siblings: Sandy (Dale) Williams, Sharon Keen, Steve (Debbie) Tovson; mother-in-law: Margo Niemitalo, and several nieces and nephews.

Jerald was preceded in death by his parents: Donald and Florence Tovson; stepfather: Walter Mercer; siblings: James Tovson, Diane Delaney, Debra Tovson, and father-in-law, George Niemitalo.

Services will be held Saturday, June 19, 2021 at First Baptist Church in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.
