Jerry Hanson, age 88, of Frazee, MN, died June 5, 2023 at the Sunnyside Care Center in Lake Park, MN.

Jerry Floyd Antoine Hanson was born June 6, 1934 in Perham, MN to Gilbert and Bertha (Jenson) Hanson.  He attended rural schools in Becker County and Frazee High School, graduating in 1953. He enlisted in the Army, serving from 1954-1957, was stationed in Iceland for one year. Following his discharge from the Army, the State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND from 1958-1960, where he mastered the trade of Heating and Plumbing. On February 22, 1957, he was united in marriage to Willma Pope. The later moved to Baker, MT where Jerry worked for five years and to Scobey, MT for another year. In 1966 they returned to Minnesota to join Jerry's brother Leon in HOL Plumbing and Heating, which he would later own and operate.

Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing, birding and rockhounding. He spent many retirement hours restoring mechanical equipment, creating bird feeders, nests, and yard ornaments. Jerry loved his tractors. He was a good steward of the land and wild life. He was a life-long member of the American Legion Post #15 and Faith Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his devoted wife Willma; two brother in-laws, Jim (Judie) Pope, of Detroit Lakes, MN and Jerry (Marion) Pope of Mena, AR; two nieces; five nephews; many cousins; and numerous friends. He will be missed by his loving dog, Clyde and cat, Chipper.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Ray Hanson and Leon Hanson.

Memorial Services will be on Friday, July 14, 2023, 11:00 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Friday. Interment will be at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls, MN. Arrangements have been entrusted to the West-Kjos Funeral Home of Detroit Lakes, MN.

The family would like to thank the caregivers and staff at Sunnyside Care Center, Ethos Hospice and Rita for their love and kindness.
