Judith (Judy) Anne Raye, 81, Detroit Lakes, soared into the welcoming and loving arms of her Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 12, 2019 at Essentia Hospital in Fargo, ND following complications from a heart attack. Judy (Kyte) was born December 12, 1937 to James Emmett and Mae Kyte in Carrington, ND.  The family moved to Detroit Lakes when she was a young child.  Judy attended school in Detroit Lakes for 12 years.  Judy married Jay LeRoux in October 1955 and they had one son, Daniel.  They made their home in California for several years, also residing in Fergus Falls, where Judy took in 2 foster boys.  Judy and Jay later divorced.  Judy married Dovie Raye in 1981.  They made their home in Detroit Lakes.  Judy worked for the telephone company and retired after 25 years.  She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Detroit Lakes and enjoyed helping with the church newsletter for many years.  Judy enjoyed her friends at Christian Women’s Club, High Mileage Club, Tops Club, and her special friends on Monday night “burger” night.  She cherished her time with her family, especially garage sale-ing with her sisters, and planning holiday events.  Judy most recently resided at Lincoln Park Assisted Living in Detroit Lakes where she made many new friends and treasured the amazing staff who cared for her there.  Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Mae Kyte, her brother, Richard Lee Kyte, brothers-in-law Bob Perszyk, Richard Turner, Bob Reich, and Steven Boedigheimer and foster son, Conrad. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by her loving husband Dovie Raye, Detroit Lakes; son Daniel LeRoux of Sabin, MN; brother Jim (Carolyn) Kyte, Perham, MN; sisters Sue (Jerry) Swanson, Perham, MN, Vicki Boedigheimer, Audubon, MN, and Robbie (Allan) Schoenberger, Audubon, MN; sisters-in-law Mary Reich and Flo Turner of Louisiana; grandchildren Leah Goberish and Robin LeRoux, Jenna, Jerrick, Alex and Asia Riewer; great grandchildren Kaylee LeRoux and Tjaden Goberish, goddaughter Kristi Strong and many special nieces and nephews.  Also including her favorite cousins, Kathy Nielsen and Nancy White and incredible friend Aletha Hein. Arrangements are entrusted to West-Kjos Funeral Home of Detroit Lakes with a visitation/prayer service from 5 to 7 pm, Tuesday, September 17th, at the West-Kjos Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held September 18th, at Trinity Lutheran Church of Detroit Lakes with visitation 1 hr prior.  Pastor Jillene Gallatin officiating. Judy’s joyful presence and wonderful smile are now shared eternally.
