Judith Stallman Morris Wood, better known as Judie, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the new age of 80.
Judie was born on May 13, 1946, in Detroit Lakes to Donald and Marlys Stallman. She graduated from Detroit Lakes High School in 1964.
Judie was first married to Joe Morris, and together they had two wonderful sons. They made their home in Detroit Lakes, where they started Morris Paint together downtown. Judie married David Wood in 1990 and lovingly welcomed his three sons into their family. Together, they owned and operated DOW Acoustics and shared 36 wonderful years of marriage.
Judie had many passions and talents throughout her life, including painting, wallpapering, and ceramics. Above all else, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who lived for her family. Nothing brought her more joy than celebrating the people she loved. Whether it was a sporting event, concert, birthday, holiday, milestone, or simply time spent together, Judie never missed an opportunity to show up for her children and grandchildren and make them feel deeply loved. She will always be remembered for her beloved chocolate cake, sugar cookies, fluffy pancakes and especially her infamous potato salad.
Judie is survived by her husband, David Wood; her sons, Korry (Jen) Morris and Steven (Becky) Morris; her stepsons, Dan (Juanita) Wood, Corey (Denise) Wood, and Jim (Rhonda) Wood; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; eight exchange students who became part of her family; her sisters, Lynn, Kathy, Bobbi, and Debbe (Steve); her brother, Bill (Connie); as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Marlys; her mother-in-law, Joyce; her brothers-in-law, Paul, David, Roger and Bruce; and her nephew, Matthew.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation in celebration of Judie’s life at First Lutheran Church on Sunday, May 31, at 3:00 p.m. to share stories, memories, and fellowship.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 1, at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation starting one hour prior at First Lutheran Church, followed by a luncheon.
Judie’s love, warmth, and devotion to family will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her kitchen, her laughter, and her unwavering love for family will never be forgotten.
