Karen Elizabeth Lundberg

Karen Elizabeth (Erickson) Lundberg, age 83, of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, after a life devoted to her faith, family, and community.

Karen was born in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota on March 27th, 1943, to Ellsworth and Alice (Coughlin) Erickson. She graduated from Detroit Lakes High School.

She married Roger Lundberg on February 10th, 1962. Together they shared more than 60 years of marriage.

Karen held a variety of jobs throughout her life, from selling produce at Evans Super Market, operating the Produce Shack, to working in the gift shop at the Holiday Inn. No matter where she worked, she loved connecting with people and cherished the friendships she built throughout the community.

Karen learned to love traveling with her bowling friends, which led to years of vacations with her grandchildren. She enjoyed being outdoors, especially at the lake soaking up the sunshine. Karen loved attending church and devoted over 60 years volunteering at Lund Lutheran Church. Her contagious laugh, kind heart, and genuine love for others will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Karen is survived by her children, Julie (Jim) Nistler and Wayne (Karen) Lundberg; her grandchildren, Sarah, Adrian, Shaun, Randy, Kristina, and Nicole; her great-grandchildren, Easton, Autumn, Davin, Jayde, Kayson, Lennon, and Roger; her siblings, Lois Landa, Judy Wallace (Bernie Hendricks), Milt (Marcella) Erickson, Barb (Wayne) Zimmerman, Curt (Janelle) Erickson, and Dave (Jean) Erickson along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Roger Lundberg; parents, Ellsworth and Alice Erickson; and her brothers-in-law, Doug Landa, and Jim Wallace.

Funeral Services will be on Monday, August 3, at 11:00 a.m. at Lund Lutheran Church, rural Detroit Lakes, MN. Visitation will be on Sunday, August 2 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the West-Kjos Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes. Inurnment will be in the Lund Lutheran Church Cemetery.
