Keith J. Zick

Keith Zick, 73, died Monday, November 27, 2017 surrounded by family in his home on Big Toad Lake in the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Keith was born May 6, 1944 to John and Helen (Luckason) Zick in Detroit Lakes, MN. He graduated from Frazee High School in 1962. Keith worked many different jobs after graduating high school including farming, installing power lines and construction. He was united in marriage to Roxanne Kohler on October 11, 1975. They loved each with a forever love that was even more evident in the later years. They made their home on Big Toad Lake where they raised their girls and where they loved to enjoy the peace that lake life offered. In 2006, he retired from drywall and the daily commute to Fargo that he did for over 40 years. He then became the busiest “retired” man continuing to help his brother farm, a past time he loved. Keith was an avid hunter and fisherman but also enjoyed watching the Minnesota Vikings & Minnesota Twins. He loved to spend time visiting with family and friends including his morning coffee clutch, which was one of the greatest blessings during the last year of his life. His girls were his pride and joy and often could be heard bragging about them. As they grew up and married, Keith welcomed his son-in-laws as his own. Being Papa to his grandchilden was something he loved more than anything and enjoyed teaching them new tricks and making them laugh. He was extremely proud of all of them and all they did. Keith is survived by his wife Roxanne Zick of Osage, Minnesota; daughter, Krista (Ben) Holter of Oslo, MN; daughter Becky (Jason) Ulschmid of Osage, MN; grandchildren, Emily, Joseph, Jonathan, Lexi and Megan; sister-in-law Sue Zick, niece Gail (George Felix) Clendening & nephew Tim (Desi) Zick; cousin Larry (Sharon) Luckason; sister and brother in laws, DeAnn (Roger) Quittscheiber, LuAnn (Rollie) King, Tim Kohler, Scott Kohler, Tami Wanner, Terri Seeyle, Tiny Jacobson, Pat (Michelle) Kohler and many nieces and nephews. Keith was preceded in death by his parents, John and Helen Zick; brother, Jerry Zick; niece Carly Zick; mother & father-in-law, Archie and Anna Kohler; brother-in-law, Steve Kohler; niece Amanda Bergstrom; nephew Mark Quittschrieber; Aunt and Uncle, Esther and Levi  Luckason.
