Kenneth L. Huesman

Kenneth Lyle Huesman was born on Feb 19, 1942 to Florence (Stempf) and Rudy Huesman in Moorhead, MN. He passed away on Easter morning, Sunday, April 12, 2020 surrounded by his family after a 5-year battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. He attended elementary school in Glyndon and Georgetown. In 1952, the family moved to Audubon and he attended school there and graduated in 1960. After high school, Ken worked for Lake Park Coop. In 1964 he was drafted into the US Army and was stationed at Fitzsimmons Army hospital in Denver, CO. While in Colorado, Ken met the love of his life, Carol Hawkins and they were married on March 12, 1966 in Center, CO. Ken and Carol made their home on a farm north of Audubon, MN where they raised their three children. Ken was self-employed in the construction business until he retired in 2006. He drove school bus for Lake Park-Audubon for many years. Ken was an active member of First Lutheran Church in Audubon, serving on the church council and several committees. He was a member of the American Legion Post 339, Eagles Club, Home Builders Association, and served on the Hamden township board. Ken enjoyed being a longtime 4H Leader and volunteering for the Fargo VA. Ken was a generous and sweet hearted husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. Most of all, he will be remembered as a genuinely good soul and first-rate guy. He loved an adventure. He enjoyed attending activities of his children and grandchildren and was very proud of them all. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, gardening, yard work, gathering with family and friends, traveling with his wife, Carol and visiting with everybody he met. Ken loved spending time at the lake. They built their dream home on Lake Maud in 2014. Ken was loved by his family for his patience and cheerful disposition. He leaves behind his wife Carol, of 54 years. His children: Mike (Jill) and children: Lindsey (Ryan) Ernst of Delano, MN, Emily, Maggie and Isaac of Hawley, MN, Jane (Brad) Kaisersatt and children: Keaton, Cory, Kate, Brandon and Grant of Prior Lake, MN, Jim (Cassie) and children: Jack, Olivia, Anders and Cece of Hickson, ND. He also had 2 great grandchildren, Madi and Mason Ernst. Ken is also survived by his brother, Ron (Janice) Huesman of Audubon, sisters, Judy Nelson and Susie (Terry) Johnson both of Audubon, sister in law Sue Hawkins of Kremmling, CO., Aunt Mary Stempf and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is survived by his loyal dog, Corky. He was preceded in death by his parents, his mother and father in law, Jane and Raymond Hawkins and sister in law, DeeAnn Weber.
