Kent Dennis
Hopman
November 15, 1962 – February 20, 2026
Kent Dennis Hopman, 63, of Detroit Lakes, MN passed away on February 20, 2026.
Kent was born in Rugby, ND to Dennis and Jean Hopman on November 15, 1962. Kent attended high school in Detroit Lakes and graduated in 1981. He went on to attend Moorhead State University for two years before he moved to Bloomington, MN. He worked for US West/Quest for 10 years and a Home Improvement Company for the next five years. From there Kent moved back to DL and was a Hotel Associate for the last 15 years.
Kent was an avid downhill skier and loved having a huge hand in teaching his niece and nephew the love of the sport, which resulted in many family trips to Big Sky that created endless family memories. Kent loved the MN Vikings and our family trip to the game with Dad, Kim and Denice.
Kent was one of the most generous and kind-hearted people you would ever meet. He was a hard worker and helped everyone with everything. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was a relentless teaser and prankster! His smile and infectious laugh would fill a room!
The thing Kent loved the most were his niece Molly and nephew Max, along with his many cousins. Cousin’s weekends were always EPIC! He was a devoted uncle to Molly and Max and attended all of their activities. “UNK Kent” to them! He was a true Loboe and Cobber’s fan.
Kent cherished any time spent with family, whether it was golfing, camping, snowmobiling, water skiing, ice skating, playing board games, cards, carving pumpkins or just toodling on the pontoon. He loved doing crosswords and Wordle. Kent had a green thumb and was so proud of his flowers during the summer and always was looking for a new way to hang his Christmas lights.
Kent is preceded in death by his grandparents, parents and aunts and uncles and survived by is sisters, Kim Johnson of Detroit Lakes, MN, Denise and Eric Musland of LaMoure, ND, niece Molly and nephew Max and all of his cousins.
Kent was the best brother that anyone could have asked for.
