LaVerne Ruth Olson

LaVerne R. Olson age 91 of Detroit Lakes, MN died November 10, 2021 at Essentia Health – Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes.

LaVerne Ruth Olson was born October 24, 1930 in rural Frazee, MN to Erwin and Elsie (Tessman) Wothe. She attended Country School near her home. In 1948 she was united in marriage to Clarence Olson. They farmed and raised their family in Height of Land Township, in rural Detroit Lakes, MN.

LaVerne enjoyed gardening and canning. She was a very faithful person and her Church was very important to her. She enjoyed every deer hunting season where she would regularly call members of the family to hear if they saw or shot any deer. She loved spending time with her grandkids and was very thankful that she was able to live close to them.

She is survived by three sons, Darrell (Vernette) Olson, of Detroit Lakes, MN; Larry (Laurie) Olson, of Detroit Lakes, MN; and Scott (Cheryl) Olson, of Frazee, MN; five grandchildren, Justin Olson, Jared Olson, Ryan Olson, Ross Olson, and Rory Olson; ten great grandchildren; one great great grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Gordon Wothe.

Memorial Services will be on Monday November 15, 2021; 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church – Height of Land in rural Frazee, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the West-Kjos Funeral Home of Detroit Lakes.
