Linda Faye Olson

Linda Faye Anderson was born in Detroit Lakes, MN on November 5, 1944. She attended school in Detroit Lakes, MN, Dickenson, ND, and graduated from high school in Hawley, MN in 1962. Linda attended business school in Fargo, ND and her first job after graduating was with Northwestern Bell in Fargo.

She married James Olson in 1965 and they lived in Lake Park, MN for several years where Linda worked at Lake Park Schools as an administrative assistant. They later moved to Ada, MN where Linda volunteered as Treasurer of the Norman County Fair Board. She also attended ceramics classes and made many beautiful items for family members and friends. Linda had two poodles during these years both by the name of Coco. Linda enjoyed entertaining and often held Thanksgiving dinner for the extended family at her house. Linda loved her friends and continued to get together with the same group of high school friends for long weekends and overnight stays throughout her life.

Linda and Jim divorced in 1983 and Linda moved to Fargo for a short time and then to the Twin Cities. She settled in Maple Grove, MN and worked for Knox Lumber as a phone receptionist and at Gage Marketing in Accounts Payable. During her time in the Twin Cities, she enjoyed attending occasional Twins games and the Minnesota State Fair. She also enjoyed spending holidays and birthdays with her extended family.  She retired in 2005 and continued to live in Maple Grove and later in the northern suburbs of the Twin Cities. She moved to Viking Manor in Ulen, MN in late 2021 to be closer to her hometown of Hawley and several relatives that live in the area. Linda passed away on May 15, 2022, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Linda is survived by her sister Jan (Dennis) Baldner, of Fargo, ND; one brother Steve (Karen) Anderson, of Bonita Springs, FL; one niece, Kelli Anderson, three nephews, Chad Baldner, Ryan (Noelle) Baldner, Grant (Kaitlyn Barnard) Anderson, one great niece Abby Baldner, and one great nephew, Oscar Anderson.

She was preceded in death by her parents Dennis and Gladyce Anderson, and one brother Jerre.

Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Monday, May 23, 2022 at 1:00PM at the West-Kjos funeral home, 900 Summit Ave, Detroit Lakes, MN with burial following the service at Hawley Cemetery. The funeral will be livestreamed and available for viewing on the West-Kjos website. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to either Viking Manor, Ulen, MN or Hospice of the Red River Valley in Fargo, ND.
