She grew up in Fingal with her two sisters and graduated from Fingal High School. After graduation, Lois stayed home and worked as a babysitter for a short time. Lois and her close friend Mary Swenson moved to Seattle, WA, working as “Rosie the Riveter” during WWII. After three years, Lois returned to the Detroit Lakes area where she worked for Mikey’s Café. It was at Mikey’s Café where Lois met her future husband Palmer Remmen. After several dates, movies and dances (Lois always said Palmer was an excellent dancer), they were united in marriage on March 19, 1948. Lois was a busy stay at home Mom raising 9 children. They took many walks to the lake, attending her boy’s ball games and even helping them on their paper routes. Lois was a wonderful cook and baker. Some of the family favorites included her delicious homemade breads, rolls and date filled cookies. After her children were grown, Lois went back to work, waitressing at Mickey’s and Bunnell’s. She was an active member of First Lutheran Church where she volunteered her time with Golden Agers, quilting, putting together the church newsletters and Ruth Circle. Lois always enjoyed being around people and loved playing cards and games and most importantly watching her children and grandchildren’s activities. She was a Minnesota Twins fan and hoped that one day she could attend a game. Lois is survived by her family: David (Sharon) of Fargo, JoAnn (Virgil) Heinen of Hillsboro, ND, Stephan of West Fargo, ND, Barbara (Kenneth) Gruer of West Fargo, ND, Roger (Marla) of Texas, Larry (Kellie) of Detroit Lakes, Robert of Fargo, ND, Cheryl (Mike) Ohm of Detroit Lakes, John (Cindy) of West Fargo, ND.
