Louis M. Meeks age 98 of Detroit Lakes, MN died June 28, 2023, at Ecumen – Emmanuel in Detroit Lakes.

Louis Mortimer Meeks was born May 14, 1925, in Parkersburg, West Virginia to William and Clara Williams Meeks. He grew up and received his education in Parkersburg. Following high school, he served in the United States Navy during WWII. On November 9, 1945, he was united in marriage to Lillian Longfors in Reno, Nevada. In 1951 they moved to Snellman, MN where they raised their family. Louis worked for MNDOT in Detroit Lakes for many years, retiring in 1985.

Louis enjoyed hunting, fishing and farming.

He is survived by three daughters, Bonnie (Anthony Fairbanks) Meeks, of Osage, MN; Lois (Lyle Tabbut) Mastin, of Pelican Rapids, MN; and Brenda (Robert) Wickline, of Brainerd, MN; four sons, William Meeks, of Detroit Lakes, MN; Charles (Carolyn) Meeks, of Ogema, MN; Robert (Tonya Harris) Meeks, of Osage, MN; and Louis (Elaine) Meeks Jr., of Park Rapids, MN; twenty one grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; ten great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian; three daughters, Nancy Meeks, Mary Gillette, and Carol Nickolausen; one grandson, Steven Bellanger; three brothers, Robert, Everett, and Russell; three sisters, Gracie, Patti, and Virginia; one daughter in law, Mary Meeks; and two sons in law, Larry Gillette and Don Nickolauson.

Funeral Services will be on Thursday July 6, 2023; 11:00 a.m. at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Snellman, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Snellman Cemetery.
