Marlys Ortlepp

Marlys E. Ortlepp age 72 of Detroit Lakes, MN died April 20, 2019 at her residence, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Marlys Elaine Ortlepp was born July 26, 1946 in Detroit Lakes, MN to Ernest and Audrey (Craft) Olson. She grew up and received her education in Detroit Lakes. On June 1, 1962 she was united in marriage to Gerald Ortlepp in Detroit Lakes. They made their home and raised their family in Detroit Lakes. Marlys enjoyed traveling and motorcycle trips to the Black Hills. She was also an animal lover. She was known as a very kind, gentle person. She is survived by her husband, Jerry; one son, Bryan Ortlepp, of North Branch, MN; one daughter, Sheila (Scott) Boit, of Perham, MN; six grandchildren; two brothers, Rick (Brenda) Olson, of Detroit Lakes, MN; and Mike (Rachel) Olson, of Perham, MN; three sisters, Maxine Spicer, of Detroit Lakes, MN; Ella Mae (Bruce) Frank, of Detroit Lakes, MN; and Patty (Bob) Sanaker, of New York; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Ernest “Butch” Olson; and two sisters, Becky Swenson and Sharon Anderson.
