Marshall Andrew Benson

Marshall A. Benson age 100 of Detroit Lakes, MN died August 15, 2023 at Ecumen-Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes.

Marshall Andrew Benson was born July 14, 1923 in Detroit Lakes, MN to Nels and Anna Marie (Wicklund) Benson. He was one of eleven children. He grew up and received his education in Detroit Lakes, graduating from Detroit Lakes High School. He then attended the Detroit Lakes Business College. He served in the Army Air Corp from 1943-1947 during WWII. He was stationed in Dutch and British Guiana. Following his discharge, he returned to Detroit Lakes, where he worked at the First National Bank for several years. He later moved to Minneapolis and continued his banking career. Following his retirement, he moved back to Detroit Lakes. He has been a resident at Emmanuel Nursing Home since 2015.

Marshall has been a member of the Baptist Church for many years. He was very musical. He enjoyed playing the piano and the cornet, and also singing in Church. His hobbies included fishing and gardening.

He is survived by a brother-in-law, Peter Hoffman, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and ten brothers and sisters.

Graveside Services will be on Friday August 18, 2023; 11:00 a.m. at the Oak Grove Cemetery.
