Marvin E. Hanson

Marvin Ernest Hanson was born on January 18, 1933, in Toad Lake Township, Minnesota, to Ernest and Hilda (Fredrickson) Hanson. He graduated from Frazee High School in 1951 and then went to work on the Iron Range. He joined the Air Force during the Korean War in 1953 and served overseas in Algeria, France, England, Germany, Greece, Italy, Turkey, Vietnam, Philippines, and Thailand. He received his honorable discharge and retired on March 7, 1973, with numerous decorations as a Master Sargent. Marvin was united in marriage to Vicki (Vichuda) on March 7, 1973, in Colorado Springs, CO. After he retired from the service in 1973, he and Vicki moved back to Toad Lake. He built his home at the north end of Big Toad Lake. Marvin went back to school in 1974 and graduated from the Vo-Tech in Detroit Lakes with a Business degree. He worked as the Deputy Assessor for Becker County and later as the City Assessor for Park Rapids. He retired in 1995 and moved to Detroit Lakes in 2000. Marvin loved reading mystery novels, listening to country ballads, hunting, fishing, and stock market trading. He enjoyed visiting his neighbors and spending winters in Harlingen, Texas. Marvin is lovingly remembered by his wife Vicki; sons: Michael of Denver, Colorado; Steven of Ocean View, Hawaii; granddaughter: Amber (Efon) Izquierdo; great grandson Miles Efon Izquierdo of Miami, Florida; two great granddaughters: Isla Efon Izquierdo and Violet  Efon Izquierdo of Miami; sister: Nancy (Dwight) Murphy of Detroit Lakes; five brothers: Maury (Alice) Hanson and Milt (Joyce) Hanson of Detroit Lakes; Jim Hanson of Spokane, Washington; Howard (Jackie) Hanson of Nisswa; Randy (Monica) Hanson of Frazee; Nancy Amsberry, mother of Michael and Steven of Englewood, Colorado; sister-in-law Anchan (Warren) Peters of Moreno Valley, California, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Hilda Hanson and grandparents: Eleck and Alma Frederickson and Lawrence and Dena Hanson.
