Maynard A. Hanson

Maynard A. Hanson age 80 of Frazee, MN formerly of Detroit Lakes, MN died November 21, 2017 at the Frazee Care Center. Maynard Allen Hanson was born June 28, 1937 in Perham, MN to Rudolph and Hilma (Nelson) Hanson. He attended Country School and worked on the family farm. Maynard then served in the United States Army from 1956 – 1962.  On December 2, 1961 he was united in marriage to Darlene Vanderpoel at the Shell Lake Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Osage, MN. They made their home on a farm outside of Callaway, MN. Maynard was a man of many talents. One of which was the ability to fix almost anything. He enjoyed growing vegetables, raspberries, and trees. In the spring and fall you would find him in the tractor. He loved to plow the land, and the neighbors would often hire him to do farm work. He also worked many years for Wilcox, Peavey, and UBC Lumber Company in Detroit Lakes, where he won many awards for his service and talent. He is survived by his wife, Darlene; one daughter, Twyla (Glen) Bucholz, of Detroit Lakes, MN; two grandchildren, Tonya Strom, of Detroit Lakes, MN; and Tyler Sather, of Detroit Lakes, MN; and two great grandsons, Peter Allan and Jackson Strom. He was preceded in death by one sister, JoAnn Jager; and his parents.
