Michael DeLaria

Michael James DeLaria, age 72, of Detroit Lakes, MN died Sunday January 7, 2024, at Essentia Health Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Michael was born May 1, 1951, in Mpls, MN to George and Anne (Kissell) DeLaria. He grew up in the Mpls area, where he attended school and graduated there. Later he found himself moving to Detroit Lakes, MN. He moved into the House of Agape, which was run by Keith and Jan Barberg. He was united in marriage to Vickie Brahmer of Detroit Lakes on December 3, 1977, at Christian Fellowship Church in Detroit Lakes, MN. They raised three children. Over the years he worked at several jobs in the area including Kandt Motors, and Skarie, Chelmo, and Mickelson Turkey Farms. He then worked in Maintenance at the Jenny O Hatchery in Detroit Lakes, where he worked for many years, retiring in 2018.

Michael enjoyed traveling to Georgia to visit family and spending time with his granddaughters. He loved taking the pontoon out and cruising the lake in the summertime. He also liked watching Gunsmoke every day at noon. Anyone who talked to him either by phone or in person knew that he was an avid Trump supporter. He always watched Trump Rallies on TV.

He is survived by his wife Vickie; one daughter, Sarah (Matthew) Jaster, of Spring Grove, VA; two sons, Jason DeLaria, of Detroit Lakes, MN; and Matthew (Rachael) DeLaria, of Lula, GA; two granddaughters, Zoey and Aroha, of Lula, GA; one brother, Daniel (Sue) DeLaria, of Sebring, FL; two sisters, Patricia Luther, of Elk River, MN; and Mary (Michael) Helgeson, of Andover, MN; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Jerome DeLaria; and one granddaughter, Zemirah DeLaria.

Funeral Services will be on Saturday January 13, 2024; 2:00 p.m. at the Christian Fellowship Church in Detroit Lakes, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to services.
