Micheal James Johnson

Micheal James Johnson died November 24, 2023, at Hawley Senior Living in Hawley, Minnesota.

Micheal was born to Delores (Alder) and Jerry L. Johnson on June 20, 1975, in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. Micheal received educational services at home at an early age. He attended Fargo ND schools and received special education until he graduated.

Micheal lived in several group homes until 2002, he then moved to New Horizon in Frazee, MN., living there until 2022.He was moved to Golden Manor in Detroit Lakes and then moved again to Hawley Senior Living until his passing.

Micheal was at the Becker County DAC from 1997 to 2020. His job there was to shred paper, which he loved to do. Micheal was a very friendly person and always had a smile on his face. He also worked at Productive Alternative in Perham, MN. Micheal loved to go to auction sales and rummage sales with his brother who lived at the same group home and the staff. Micheal loved going out to eat, going to movies, local sporting events and bowling. He participated in Special Olympics and was a member of the Great Northern Gang.

Micheal leave behind his mother Delores and stepfather Wally Kluck of Fargo, ND; two brothers, Randolph Johnson of Frazee, MN, and Eric Berg of Montana. All his friends at the DAC, Productive Alternative and friends & staff at New Horizon and Hawley Senior Living.

A special thank you to the nurses of Hospice of the Red River Valley and Myra Eastman, his guardian who took care of him in his final days of life.

Services will be held on Monday, December 4, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at West-Kjos Funeral Home.  Visitation will be one hour prior. Interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, Detroit Lakes.
