Morris S. Peterson

Morris Stanley Peterson was born June 2, 1921 in Lake Eunice Township to Martin and Mary Johnson Peterson. He passed away on January 24, 2018 at Essentia Health Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes, MN at the age of 96. Morris graduated from Detroit Lakes High School . On November 1, 1942 he was united in marriage to Phyllis Jeanette Anderson. Shortly after the marriage he left to join the U.S. Army, and was stationed in Safron-Walden, England. Morris returned to Detroit Lakes and worked as a manager at Blanding’s Department Store for 33 years in the shoe and the men’s clothing departments. In 1977 Morris became the manager of the Shoe-Inn in Detroit Lakes, a position he held for 10 years. Morris was involved with the Washington School PTA, Sons of Norway, and Trinity Lutheran Church, where he served on the Church Council, the building committee, and as a Sunday School Superintendent. Morris enjoyed gardening, reading, hardanger, volunteering and most of all time spent with family. Morris is survived by four daughters, Emilie (Richard) Horken, of Prescott, WI; Elizabeth (Stephen) Eidenschink, of Detroit Lakes, MN; Cynthia (Delbert) Carver, of Moorhead, MN; and Maureen (Domenic) Bonacci, of Kimball, MN; eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren. Preceding him in death was his wife, Phyllis; ten brothers and sisters; and his parents. Funeral Services will be on Monday January 29, 2018; 1:00 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the West-Kjos Funeral Home of Detroit Lakes.
