Neville "Jack" E. Lekang

Jack Lekang, 87, of Lake Park, died peacefully at home surrounded by family on October 4, 2020.

He was born on October 11, 1932 in Wyndmere, ND to Paul and Erma (Springer) Lekang. Jack graduated from Wyndmere High School in 1950.

Jack served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1971. He was stationed in San Diego CA, San Jose CA, Pensacola FL, Key West FL and Norvolk, VA. He served on the U.S.S. Lexington and the U.S.S. Roosevelt. Jack was in Saigon and D'Nang Vietnam during the Vietnam War.

Jack married Dorothy King in June of 1960, in Pensacola, FL. They lived in various military housing with their four children, Theresa, Rita, David, and Mary, over a period of seven years.

He returned to Wydmere, ND in 1971 after retiring from the military and owned a TV sales and repair shop.  Jack later moved to West Fargo where he continued his business.  When TVs became easily replaced, Jack switched to working on computers all the way up until two weeks before his death.

Jack married Joanne Duval in May of 1986. They lived on the farm in Moorhead, MN from 1986 until 1989. They built their dream home on Lake Ida in 1989 and lived there until 1998. They moved one final time in 1998 to their pond property in the Cormorant, MN area.

Throughout Jack's life, he enjoyed watching his son, David, race stock car and later started racing himself in Glyndon, MN where he was known as “The Silver Fox”.  He retired from racing in 1988.  He enjoyed woodworking, he and Joanne's home projects, fishing and spending many many hours with his kids and grandchildren.  

Jack is survived by daughters, Theresa Lekang, Rita Pucheu, Mary Penton, Jolynn Krotzner, Jinelle Beauchamp, Jessica Naslund (Brent) and Jennifer McTighe (John); 19 grandchildren and 19  great grandchildren; three brothers, Roy (Carla) Lekang, Richard (Joyce) Lekang and Jim (Donna) Lekang; one sister, Judy (Rod) Rudolph, and many numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death his parents; Paul and Erma Lekang; wife, Joanne Lekang; son, David Lekang; son-in-law, Shawn Pucheu and sister Phyllis Borud.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, October 9, 2020 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church. Visitations will be at 6:00pm-8:00pm on Thursday, October 8, 2020 at West-Kjos Funeral Home with a Prayer Service at 7:30pm; and one hour prior to the service.
