Nina Carroll McKennett

Nina C. McKennett age 96 of Detroit Lakes, MN, formerly of Cass Lake, MN died August 30, 2018 at Diamond Willow Assisted Living in Detroit Lakes, MN. Nina Carroll McKennett was born May 28, 1922 in Cass Lake, MN to Ernest and Alma (Erickson) Seelye. She grew up and received her education in Cass Lake, graduating from Cass Lake High School. On March 1, 1945 she was united in marriage to Rodney McKennett in Walker, MN. They made their home in Cass Lake, where they lived their entire lives. Nina has been a resident at Diamond Willow Assisted Living in Detroit Lakes for the past ten years. She enjoyed camping, canoeing, reading, and hosting deer hunters at her home every deer season. She was a very gracious, loving lady who welcomed everyone into her home. Nina is survived by her sister in law, Marian Seelye, of Detroit Lakes, MN; daughter in law, Joan Powell, of Lakeville, MN; grandson, Forrest McKennett, of Lakeville, MN; and many nieces and nephews. Nina was preceded in death by her husband, Rodney; one son, Rodger; four brothers, Clyde Seelye, Ernest Seelye, Russell Seelye, and Lon Seelye; two sisters, Gladis Van Eps, and Clara Monroe.
