Olga Elaine Niemi, 67 Passed away on March 18, 2022. Olga was born on March 7, 1955, to Ale & Irene (Bakken) Niemi. She was one of four children; her father worked for the Boy Scouts of America as a camp Ranger at Many Point Scout Camp. If Olga wasn’t outside helping her dad with many outdoor activities, she was helping her grandmother around the house. Olga was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waubun, MN and after high school she moved to Minneapolis where she met Ken Wehmas, they married July 27,1974 and then moved to Duluth, MN. Here they grew their family having a son David and daughter Paula. While in Duluth Olga got her Certificate in Accounting from Duluth Area Vocational Technical Institute in 1975. In 1978 the family of four moved to Moorhead, MN where they had one more child Neil. Olga took care of the home, was a Boy Scout den mother for David’s troop and worked at the YWCA. She became well-traveled as she worked for the cancer society, and FBS. She settled in for a bit working at Vick’s Lounge and Ralph’s Corner until 2012 when she moved back to Detroit Lakes, MN to help take care of her mother. Olga had many aspirations and achieved many of her goals in life. It was important to her to be honest, hardworking, giving and have a strong faith in God. She was a Breast Cancer survivor, loved the outdoors, playing cards, bingo, and most of all visiting with family and friends.
Olga is survived by her children David Wehmas, Paula Wehmas, Neil Wehmas, siblings John (Laurel) Niemi, Elmer (Renae) Niemi, and Larry (Gail) Niemi.
She is preceded in death by her parents Ale & Irene Niemi and many other loved ones.
