Paul Casey Brenk passed away at Essentia Health in Fargo on Monday April 19th after a year and a half long battle with Cancer. He was surrounded by his family as he quietly slipped away. Casey was born September 28th 1962 to Paul and Marion Brenk in Detroit Lakes. He attended Holy Rosary Elementary School and graduated from Detroit Lakes High School in 1981. He played youth and high school Hockey. He retained that passion for all things hockey throughout the rest of his life, coaching his young sons and later following Eric’s Junior and college hockey careers. He spent his youth summers on Lake Seven where he along with his brother Chris, Cousin Paul, neighbor Guy (and several others) were known to get into a bit of mischief. Casey was also active in Young Life and spent several summers as a leader at the Young Life Ranch in Colorado. He attended both University of Minnesota Duluth and NDSU graduating in 1986 with a degree in accounting. He later earned the designation of Certified Financial Planner and later became a partner at TruStone Financial group of Fargo. He was united in marriage to Nancy Hunt on February 6, 1988. Together they raised two great young men, Eric and Ian. Hockey played a huge part of their family life often pulling them in opposite directions but more often leading not just to hockey weekends but to mini vacations. Casey was a dedicated husband and father and loved spending time with his family taking several family trips - Wisconsin Dells being a favorite destination. They enjoyed bike riding, watching movies, summer days at Lake Seven with family (and yes saunas!) and later riding motorcycle. Casey leaves behind Nancy his beloved wife of 33 years; two sons, Eric (Minneapolis) and Ian (Moorhead); his mother Marion Brenk (Frazee); two brothers Paul Matthew Brenk (Mary) Detroit Lakes; Paul Christopher Brenk (Deb) Frazee; one sister Rebecca Mickelson (Wayne) of Frazee; as well as Aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his father Dr. Paul Brenk. Memorial Services will be on Monday April 26, 2021; 11:00 a.m. at the Christian Fellowship Church in Detroit Lakes, MN.
