Phyllis M. Jensen

May 16, 1931 — February 15, 2020

Phyllis May Maxine Jensen claimed her baptismal promises when she went to be with the Lord, February 15, 2020, at the age of 88.  She was born May 16, 1931, the sixth of seven children born to Clarence and May Hannah [Gladen] Jensen at Rochert, MN.  She was baptized and confirmed at Egelund Lutheran Church.  She was united in marriage to Sam Trizza in Dallas, TX, 1951.

Phyllis attended District 77 Woodland Park Elementary and Detroit Lakes High School.  She graduated from Central High School, St. Paul, in 1948.  She also graduated with nursing honors from Fergus Falls Community College and later with Computer and related study honors from Minnesota State Community  and Technical College in 1998.

A devoted wife and mother, Phyllis was employed 25 years as bookkeeper and buyer for government sub-contractors in Dallas.   She worked as office manager for Roy Pope Landmark Gourmet Grocery, Fort Worth, TX, and Red Owl Grocery in Detroit Lakes.  She worked five years as a Home Health Aid for Nancy Rutledge, wife of Doc Rutledge, and later as a Hospice Aid for George Simson, her former DLHS Principal.

Phyllis will be remembered for the Woodland Park Elementary Reunion she organized with all in attendance including former teachers having a part in the program.  She enjoyed doing family tree research and  hosted a Spiritual Growth Group for five years for which she prepared 70 power point presentations.  She was a prolific religious writer with some published in the DL Tribune.  One of her humorously printed booklets was entitled, “Ole and Lena Got Married.”

Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, husband and daughter, Katherine May [Trizza] Floyd  Rogers; three brothers, Austin, Verne and Wallace Jensen; and two sisters, Joyce Quinn and Phoebe Barnick.  She is survived by a son, David Wright of Dallas; a daughter and son-in-law, Gina [Trizza] & Phillip Flores of Vergas; six grandchildren, Melanie, Mark and Careese Floyd, Nicollette Rogers, and Shawn and Nicolas Boit; seven great grandsons, Dylan, Ashtyn, William, Jude, Eden, Maxwell and Luca; seven great granddaughters, Katlin, Leighla, Nora, Riley, Kaia, Bayah, and Kathryn; a sister, Faith Jenson of Joshua, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Graveside Service with the Rev. Faith Jenson officiating is planned for Saturday, June 13, 11:00 A.M. at Egelund Lutheran Church Cemetery, Rochert, MN.  West Kjos Funeral Home will be handling arrangements.  Thanks and appreciation is extended to the staff of Frazee Care Center for their years of loving care.   Memorials may be designated to the Egelund Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund or a charity of choice.

Dearest Phyllis, a bright light in so many lives and loved by so many, we entrust you to God who created you.  As you go forth from this life, may flights of angels sing you to your rest and raise you up on eagle’s wings. May Christ, the Good Shepherd, enfold you with his tender care.  May you see your Redeemer face to face and enjoy the sight of God forever.
