Rev. Scott A. Muehlberg

Rev. Scott A. Muehlberg, age 68 of Osage, MN died Monday, February 3, 2020 in Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.

Scott Arlin Muehlberg was born June 9, 1951 in Hanover, Germany. He was adopted by Willard and Margaret Muehlberg and arrived in the United States in 1959. He became a United Sates citizen in 1963. He grew up near Barney, ND and graduated from Wyndmere High School in 1970. Then he attended Concordia College in St. Paul, MN. He was united in marriage to Janet Mittelstadt on March 22, 1975. They made their home in Hoffman, MN. Scott farmed and attended the Alexandria Vocational and Technical College for small engine repair.  He later attended the Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He graduated in 2003 with a Master of Divinity. He received his first call in Canby-Boyd, MN. And received his final call to St. John’s Lutheran Church – Height of Land, Frazee, MN and Gethsemane Lutheran Church, Snellman, MN.

Scott loved his family and his flock. He is survived by his wife, Janet; mom, Emma Mittelstadt; one son, Michael (Kory) Muehlberg, of Baxter, MN; one daughter, Sue (Chris) Tindal, of Isanti, MN; seven grandchildren, Aaron, Nick, Chandler, Kasey, Katelynn, Chloe, and Caleb, plus four grandchildren, Josh, Tabbitha, Brittany, and Sydnie; four great grandchildren, Tailyn, Kamryn, Jackson, and Brynleigh; two brothers, Mark (Brenda) Muehlberg, of Illinois; and Jeff (Bev) Muehlberg, of MN; two sisters, Judy (Mac) McDougall, of ND; and Kim (Dan) Halter, of ND; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Louis Mittelstadt; and brother-in-law, Keith Fenske.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2020; 11:00 a.m. at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Snellman, MN. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the St. John’s Lutheran Church-Height of Land, Frazee, MN with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Interment will be in the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the West-Kjos Funeral Home of Detroit Lakes, MN.

In lieu of flowers memorial are preferred to the family.
