Robert (Bob) Thorsvig

Robert “Bob” Duane Thorsvig, age 62 of Detroit Lakes, died Sunday, August 2, 2020 at his home in rural Frazee, Minnesota.

Bob was born on February 28, 1958 to Lyle and Ellen (Weippert) Thorsvig. He had five siblings, Pam (Wally) Johnson, Kathe Anderson, Debbie Nieman, Cheryl (Bruce) Gossel and Jim Thorsvig.

For a time, Bob grew up in Eveleth, MN before moving to rural Frazee in 1971, where he attended and graduated from Frazee High School in 1976. From 1977 to 1981, Bob was married to Lilly Matson. They had two children, Melissa and Joshua. From 1983 to 1987, he was married to Judy Hafner, together they had one son, Tony. Bob later married Luanne Turner in 1996.

Bob made his living by driving his semitruck and leasing to many local companies, including S.T.S, Giere, Dagget, R&R, and K&K Transport and Midnight Express. Trucking is what he loved best. From the start and end of his driving career, he put on well over a million miles.

When he had time at home, Bob enjoyed spending time woodworking, tinkering in his shop (often building something from nothing), cooking and watching movies with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time at the family cabin on Cotton Lake.

Bob is survived by his wife, Luanne Thorsvig; three children, Melissa (tye) Mischke, Joshua (Heather) Thorsvig and Tony (Amanda) Thorsvig; four siblings, Pam, Debbie, Kathe and Jim; 12 grandchildren; one great grandchild and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lyle and Ellen; sister, Cheryl and many aunts, uncles and other relatives.
