Ronald Douglas Chapman

Ronald D. Chapman age 72 of Detroit Lakes, MN died May 25, 2019 at the Kenora Ontario, Canada Hospital while on a fishing trip. Ronald Douglas Chapman was born October 3, 1946 in Detroit Lakes, MN to Douglas and Agnes (Olson) Chapman. He grew up and attended school in Detroit Lakes, graduating from Detroit Lakes High School. He then attended the Community and Technical College in Thief River Falls, MN, where he studied welding. He worked for his dad at Chapman Oil Equipment for many years and following his dad’s death he ran the company. He was an extremely hard worker and was currently very active in the business. Ron was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to fish, hunt, and snowmobile. He also enjoyed playing cards and listening to his 50’s and 60’s music. He loved his dogs Snowball and Missy. He was a very social person who enjoyed visiting with everyone. He is survived by his significant other of 50 years, Trudy Chapman; two sons, Darryl (Tami) Chapman, of Castle Rock, CO; and Glenn (Kristen) Chapman, of Cross Lake, MN; one grandson, Brett Chapman; two sisters, Kathy (Larry) Mickelberg, of Detroit Lakes, MN; and Lynn (Jim) Kaiser, of Lake Park, MN; and nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
