Rose C. Dorff

Rose C. Dorff, 93, Detroit Lakes, died Friday, November 3, 2017 at Diamond Willow Assisted Living in Detroit Lakes, Rose Cecelia Winter was born August 16, 1924 in Mahnomen, MN to William and Helena (Laubach) Winter.  She graduated high school in Mahnomen, MN.   Rose was united in marriage to Clarence Dorff at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Lake Park. They made their home in rural Audubon, MN.  Together they built and started De Roxe Supper Club on Maud Lake.  They owned and operated the restaurant for 11 years before selling it in 1957.  They also farmed south of Audubon for many years.  Rose finished her working career with Snappy’s in Detroit Lakes where she was employed for almost 30 years.    Rose had many hobbies in her spare time.  She enjoyed quilting, sewing, cooking, baking and being outdoors in her garden.  She loved spending time with her grandchildren and always enjoyed family gatherings.  Rose was an active member of St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church and was also a member of the Belles.  Rose was a loving mother and grandmother and will be missed by her entire family. Rose is survived by two sons and one daughter:  Dave (Lynn) Dorff of Detroit Lakes, Gary (Barb) Dorff of Audubon and Carol (Danny) Johnson of Audubon along with four grandchildren and three great-grandchilden.   In addition she is survived by one brother: Joseph Winter in Minneapolis, MN. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clarence (1996) along with four brothers:  Edward Winter, Leo Winter, Elmer Winter and Richard Winter and four sisters:  Irene Kirchner, Sister Macrina Winter, Verena Johnson and Helen Lusian.
