Rosemary Greenland age 94 of Detroit Lakes, MN died March 31, 2022 at Essentia Health – Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes.
Rosemary Greenland was born on March 12, 1928 near Waukee, Iowa. She grew up and received her education in Waukee, graduating from Waukee High School in 1946. She then attended the Iowa Methodist School of Nursing. On October 18, 1947 she married Eugene Watson. They made their home in Farmington, MN. They later lived in St. Paul, MN and Brooklyn Center, MN, before moving to Detroit Lakes in 1972. Eugene died on April 28, 1978 while on vacation in Wilcox, AZ. Rosemary attended the Minnesota Technical College in Detroit Lakes from 1978-1979 and then worked at Dakota Clinic in Detroit Lakes from 1979-1990. She married Claris Greenland on November 10, 1994. They made their home on Buffalo Lake from 1995-2014.
Rosemary was an Artist. She particularly enjoyed painting. Her other interest included traveling, camping, reading, birdwatching, and gardening. She also served for years on the Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge Board.
She is survived by one daughter, Diane (Paul) Thomas, of Burnsville, MN; two sons, Larry Watson, of Hutchinson, MN; and Dan (Beth) Watson, of Fergus Falls, MN; three grandchildren, Kelly (Jim) Madigan, Tony (Ruchi) Watson, and Cole (Stacy) Watson; five great grandchildren, Aidan, Kaitryn, Arya, Briggs, and Paisley.
She was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Sylvia (Mick) Barnett, first husband, Eugene Watson; second husband, Claris Greenland; two sons, Jim Watson and Alan Watson; one grandson, Bryan Thomas; one brother, Carroll Barnett; one sister, Ethel June Barnett.
