On Saturday January 27th, 2024, Ruth V. Seal, loving mother and wife passed away peacefully at the age of 92.
Ruth Vivian Seal was born on March 7th, 1931, in Sisseton, SD to Alice and Oscar Safgren. She graduated from Sisseton High School in 1949. She worked at Bell Telephone as a switchboard operator right after high school.
On June 23rd, 1954, she married Vern Seal, the boy next door. She stayed busy as a homemaker, a wife, and mother to her two sons. She enjoyed shopping, crochet, needlepoint, traveling with her husband and friends, and entertaining friends and family.
Her family moved to many different Red Owl locations before settling in Detroit Lakes in 1972. She was the sampler of their products. Ruth and her husband made working at Red Owl always fun.
Ruth was involved in the community which includes the following: Quilting Club and choir at First Lutheran, the Red Hat Club, Birthday Ladies Club, and Beta Sigma Sorority. After she retired, she enjoyed hanging out with her husband, family, and friends, and volunteering in the community.
Ruth will be dearly missed by her family and friends, including her son Mark Seal, Grandchild Tiffany (Jeremy) Olson and great grandchildren Kayla and Claire Olson, Brother in-law Arlan Seal, and sister in-law, Lynn Seal.
Ruth was proceeded in death by her husband Vern of 66 years, her parents, Oscar and Alice, Son, Terry Seal, Brothers, Harold and Gordy Safgren, Sister in-laws, Verle and Shirley Safgren.
