Shirley Lund

Shirley A. Lund age 83 of Detroit Lakes, MN died December 2, 2020 at Ecumen – Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes, MN after fighting a battle with Parkinson’s for the last 27 years. Shirley Ann Lund was born July 1, 1937 in Mankato, MN to Lester and Marie (Lex) Rinehart. She grew up and attended school in Mankato. Her family later moved to Detroit Lakes , where Shirley finished school, graduating from Detroit Lakes High School in 1956. She worked for Northwestern Bell in Detroit Lakes for the next ten years. On September 12, 1959 she was united in marriage to Robert Lund in Detroit Lakes, where they made their home and raised their family Shirley worked many years in food service for the Detroit Lakes Public Schools. Shirley lived her life with a Christian heart, humbly putting service to others above herself. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and friend to so many. She used her gifts of cooking and baking to gather family and neighbors together to share conversation and brighten their day. We all knew that we would be well fed and cared for when Shirley was hosting a gathering. She is survived by her husband, Bob; one daughter, Linda (Terry) Beilke, of Detroit Lakes, MN; three sons, Steve (Ruth) Lund, of Frazee, MN; David (Brenda) Lund, of Detroit Lakes, MN; and Brian (Tracy) Lund, of Dilworth, MN; ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one brother, Marv (Carol) Rinehart, of Kranzburg, SD; one sister, Carol (Al) Holland, of Owatonna, MN; sisters in law, Lois Lund, of Ramsey, MN and Diantha Lund, of Detroit Lakes, MN; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Gene Rinehart. Funeral Services will be on Monday December 7, 2020; 2:00 p.m. at the West-Kjos Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Detroit Lakes, MN.
