Steve Lester Strawsell

Steven L. Strawsell age 70 of Detroit Lakes, MN died February 7, 2019 at Essentia Health – St. Mary’s Hospital in Detroit Lakes, MN. Steven Lester Strawsell was born February 26, 1948 in Nimrod, MN to Lester and Alice Strawsell. The family moved to Callaway, MN where Steve attended grade school. He later graduated from Detroit Lakes High School. He then served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. On July 24, 1971 he was united in marriage to Lorraine Steffl at Assumption Catholic Church in Callaway, MN. They made their home in Perham, MN for a few years before moving back to Callaway, where they raised their family. Steve worked for Tomlinson Lumber in Callaway for awhile before starting his own flooring business which he operated for thirty seven years. Steve loved to hunt, fish, and camp. He also enjoyed living on Buffalo Lake. He was a member and past president of the Heart of Lakes Bowhunters Club. He is survived by two sons, David Strawsell, of Detroit Lakes, MN; and Brian (Heather) Strawsell, of Audubon, MN; six grandchildren, Tucker, Dylan, Maren, Addyson, Avery, and Eli. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine (2009); and his parents.
