Steven J. Omberg

Steven J. Omberg age 56 of Moorhead, MN formerly of Detroit Lakes, MN died Wednesday February 7, 2018 at Essentia Health – Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes, MN. Steven Jon Omberg was born October 6, 1961 in Detroit Lakes, MN to Julian and Eloise (Olson) Omberg. He grew up and attended school in Detroit Lakes, graduating from Detroit Lakes High School in 1980. He then attended the Detroit Lakes Vocational and Technical College. On September 4, 1982 he was united in marriage to Holly Schweigert in Detroit Lakes, MN. They made their home in Wahpeton, ND, where Steve attended the North Dakota School of Science, earning a degree in Computer Science. Following graduation they moved to Chicago, IL, where Steve worked for AT&T – Bell Labs for ten years. They moved back to the area and purchased a resort on East Silent Lake near Dent, MN. They owned and operated Hollywoods Resort and Steve worked for Great Plains Software and later Microsoft for the last twenty four years. Steve loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He also loved his dogs, and was an avid MN Vikings and Twins fan. One of his favorite things to do was to walk through the pines on a windy day. He is survived by his father, Julian Omberg, of Detroit Lakes, MN; two brothers, Stuart (Kathy) Omberg, of Detroit Lakes, MN; and Lee (Karen) Omberg, of Perham, MN; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Eloise Omberg.
